- 2-5pm WELCOME TALK! Student Orientation, Theme: "Connections"
- 6:30 pm Summer Keynote: Andrea Davis Pinkney
WEDNESDAY 6/24 | 9AM – 5PM
MORNING — REVIEW OF DELIVERABLES
- Introductions and discussion of the course. Review the workflow and the submissions link.
- Review of deliverables: Portfolio, Dummy, Website, Leave Behinds, and Finished Art.
- Deeper dive into Portfolios for professional finish.
- Setting up Workflow tips.
- Photoshop Demo: Brush Import / Tour of Workflow, “The Grey Square demo”
- InDesign Demo.
- "AWTF" will be introduced. Students will complete their script and shot list.
- Planning Shot Selection…planning for MOOD AND STORY by analyzing film/shot design.
- REVIEW PROCESS: "Baking Cupcakes vs. Baking a Cake" : Important: Do not start Full Rendering on Portfolio work until approved by your “Art Director”.
- ASSIGN EXERCISE: Complete 6 sketches per scene (7 scenes total). Use the templates provided. Submit to Critique Me as jpgs, or png files
FRIDAY 6/26 | 9AM – 5PM
- CRITIQUE STORYBOARD FOR SHOT DESIGN ("FRAMING") AND SEQUENCING
- AM PRESENT/DEMO: LIGHTING AS DESIGN FOR FOCUS/STORY
- PM PRESENT/DEMO: COLOR SCRIPTING and EMOTIONAL CURRENCY
- ASSIGN EXERCISE: Rough in Lighting as Design and Colorscript on your 3 images from AWTF based on our colorscript notes. Submit all three to Critique Me and label as Peace/Transition/Conflict

Improve your dummy for effective pacing, mood accuracy, and emotional currency through effective shot choices. Submit your exercises from the class demos and discussions to Critique Me for feedback. (As a refresher, watch Dr. e's Book Dummy video below!)
